The Patron’s Lunch

On Sunday 12 June 2016 SBA The Solicitors’ Charity was honoured to attend the Patron’s Lunch. Our President, Jonathan Smithers, and friends at Law Care joined us to celebrate The Queen’s 90th birthday. It was a truly soggy start to what was said to be the UK’s largest ever street party on the Mall.

Representatives from 600 charities and organisations were there, all united in having The Queen as patron. Despite the rain, we stayed resolutely cheerful and there were some wonderful moments when (after the sun came out!) members of Team SBA were able to talk to Prince William and Kate in person.

We were very proud to take our place amongst all those organisations helping to make a difference. It was also very special to be able to share the occasion with our beneficiaries, volunteers and Trustees. Take a look at our photo gallery of some lovely memories captured at The Patron’s Lunch.

Off to a very wet start. Buckingham Palace just visible through heavy drizzle.

Waiting for the Parade to start…

And we’re off!  Well done to all the valiant performers.

A riot of colour to cheer up the grey skies.

Time for a spot of lunch – still smiling, despite the damp…

The hampers were just incredible.

The sun comes out!  Just in time for the appearance of the Royal Family.

HM The Queen addresses her guests: “I pay tribute to the commitment, selfless devotion and generosity-of-spirit shown by the hundreds of charities and voluntary organisations represented here today.  You are an example to us all.

Great to share such a lovely day with our friends, beneficiaries, volunteers and trustees.  Thank you to everyone who got involved and worked hard behind the scenes for making it so special.
